How do you get to the Uruguay Duck Hunting Club of Rio Branco?
Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, is the arrival city. Montevideo has an intenational airport served by American Airlines for those duck hunters from the US. You may also check flights from your home address by checking the Book Flights on the left.
Our host will meet you right outside the customs area and you will head to the northeast part of Uruguay and the famous Uruguay Duck Hunting Club.
The drive is about 4.5 hours - but enjoy this magnificient scenery of Uruguay, farm land, sheep farms, gauchos, estanicas (large plantation homes), some ostriches pop up now and then and much more. Rolling hills, green land, a country that has more farm land and ducks than people or cars.
What is Uruguay known for?
Uruguay is the second smallest country in South America located to the east of Argentina and south of Brazil. The low hills, abundant farms, ranches, and beaches make Uruguay a great country to spend some time and take advantage of the hunting resources.
The River Plate seperates Uruguay and Argentina and is a Los Gauchos golden dorado fishing hotspot. Uruguay is one of the most democratic countries in the American continent with a republican system of government. Uruguay is known for its low corruption, high security and fairest wealth distribution.
What is Trip Protection Insurance?
The Sportsman Trip Protection is offered by Los Gauchos and is especially designed for the international traveler. Flights are all overnight and any delay or cancellation can cause your duck hunting trip to be shortened.
If you bring your own gun or your luggage is delayed, it can take 24 hours or more to reach you. The Sportsman Trip Protection specifically covers hunters and realizes hunting deposits are usually non refundable and the cost of licenses and gun entry fees. New updates have been made to the Sportsman Trip Protection including a cancel for any reason option.
Can I bring my own gun into Uruguay?
Yes, you may bring your guns into Uruguay and Los Gauchos Outfitters will provide a gun registration form to process the license before you and your favorite shotgun arrive in Uruguay. The fee for the license is $100 per gun.
Use the Uruguay Gun License for registering your gun. You may fax or email the form back [FAX 214.231.2991] to us at least 30 days prior to your arrival.
What kind of guns are provided?
The Uruguay Duck Hunting Club in Rio Branco has a full supply of 12 gauge guns including the Beretta Xtrema.
Does the lodge have internet access?
Yes, it is located in a remote spot on a private ranch with acres of rice farms, and connections can be slow at times. However, cell phones and blackberrys will operate at the Uruguay Duck Club in Rio Branco. Check with your phone carrier for roaming fees and usage out of the country.
What is the lodge like? How many hunters will it hold?
The lodge is a Duck Hunting Club - but with some modern amenities such as satellite t.v. and internet access. In the middle of a private rice farm - the only neighbors are Uruguay ducks.
The lodge has 4 large bedrooms with a private bathroom in each room. The main living area is a great place to relax next to the fire or catch up on some international news. There is a game table and grand dining table for all the home cooked meals and deserts.
The Rio Branco Lodge holds up to 8 hunters - 2 per room.
Can you bring cigars into Uruguay?
Yes, you are allowed to enter Uruguay with your favorite brand of cigars. Most of our clients enjoy the high quality and good rates they find on various brands when they arrive into Montevideo. The duty free shop is a perfect place to pick some up or your favorite brand of liquor.

The Uruguay Duck Hunting Lodge is located close to all duck hunting sites. The drive time is at most, 20 minutes. Duck hunting in Uruguay is the purpose of this trip and Los Gauchos offers the best accommodations close to the best duck hunting in Uruguay.
The lodge is double occupancy with a relaxing living room, dining room, and private bathrooms with each room. The drive time from Montevideo to the lodge is about 4.5 hours. Our staff will meet your group at the Montevideo airport and transfer you to the lodge.
